My dad is an avid freshwater fisherman and growing up I remember tons of polaroids of the fish he caught. I decided to make a painting of the polaroid itself rather than the images on it. It was a challenge because it was blurry, faded color and a poor composition. It was also a challenge because initially I tried to create a photorealistic version by girding it off and painting each square of the grid upside-down. That technique became boring and monotonous, so I decided to finish it up the normal way. It was also a challenge because the painting underneath this one was full of texture and even dirt was glued to the canvas.
Nice work here from Roya Hamburger. This one is called “The Elbow Room” This stuff reminds me of Desmond Morris’s works.
