David Byrne created an album called the Knee Plays, an obscure album with rhythmic brass drones and a song about the future called, “In the future…” I thought it was a fitting title, end of story, listen to the song if you can find it. …Anyway, nature always finds a way to repeat itself, to lesson its energies, one of those ways is to network or communicate among the same species in an efficient way. Since humans don’t use, say, chemicals to communicate with each other on a massive scale, like ants do, nature handed us electronics then later came digital technologies, and ultimately the internet. Now that the social layer has formed inevitably from the last decade, Seth Priebatsch: talks about The game layer on top of the world that will use game dynamics to influence mass behavior in the decades to follow. This is not unlike Jesse Schell’s talk earlier this year. I think its inevitable and I think tablets will play a big part in leading this behavior which is why I want to spend more time designing and developing ideas for mobile technologies like the iPad.
